"The tape evaluation and reporting features of the MP eraser tells me the quality of every tape I handle. Our customers can now be totally assured that they are getting only top-quality tapes from us."
Clay Teramo President, Data Media Source
The Summary Report
Our equipment generates summary and detailed reports. During the erase procedure a copy of the Cartridge Memory of each cartridge is kept. The Cartridge Memory contains complete statistical information of the previous life of the cartridge. Our software generates a summary report from these files. The Quality Statistic graph on the right shows an example of 11,176 cartridges that were erased with our equipment.
57% of the tapes are good [How is that calculated?], 36% are acceptable, 3% are marginal, 2% are bad, and 2% are new tapes.

The Vendor Score graph shows the per Vendor results. Vendor 1 in this example has the lowest overall score of about 85% (Acceptable). The 5 other vendors all have scores above 90% (Good). The SiteScore is the total quality score for all erased cartridges (the blue line in the graph at about 87%). [How is the SiteScore calculated?], Vendor 1 (with a disproportional high number of cartridges) is just a bit below the SiteScore line, all other Vendors are above.
The Detailed Report
In addition, we also generate a detailed report for each cartridge. The detailed report includes:
the score value of each cartridge
the date & time of erasure
the model and serial numbers of equipment used
the number of mounts of the cartridge
the quality of the tape edge [Why does the edge quality matter?]
   plus many other details
This detailed report for each cartridge is also saved in the Cartridge Memory of the cartridge.
As movable media cartridges can travel to many locations. But the Cartrige Memory is an integral part of the cartridge and the detailed erase record travles with the cartridge. Where ever a cartridge ends up, the erase record can always be retrieved from the cartridge.
Any cartridges that has been erased by our equipment can be indentified. The user of an erased cartridge can have complete confidence that all data of the previous owner have been removed and that the servo tracks are not damaged. more
